1949-1993

CONCRETE MUSIC 1949-1961

Concrete music is an XX-century experimental musical genre characterized by its focus on manipulating recorded sounds rather than using traditional musical instruments. Its conceptual foundations are based on the idea that any sound can be a valid source of sonic material. It allows composers to work with concrete sounds and experiment with electronics to create abstract and highly innovative compositions, challenging traditional musical conventions.

FLUXUS 1952-1993

Fluxus music, a vital component of the Fluxus art movement, is characterized by its interdisciplinary approach and its defiance of traditional musical conventions. It rejects normativity in favor of free creativity and often uses graphic scores instead of conventional musical notation. It promotes the democratization of art, incorporates elements of performance and musical actions in its compositions, and embraces ephemerality rather than permanence, all aiming to push the boundaries of art and question established norms in music and the arts in general.
